Dear Sanja, Klaus & staff:

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for all your years of sharing your facilities at Baromedical, Inc. because if you didn’t I wouldn’t be where I am today.

When I started the oxygen therapy with you this past August, on the recommendation of Dr. G       of Vancouver Integrated Health, I had numerous symptoms due to a head injury I received May 11 including “zoning out”, cognitive challenges including a loss of words, a slowness in thinking and making decisions, inability to read ( I’d read the same paragraph over and over again); living in a “sadness” that wouldn’t go away, tiredness, lack of energy, having zero enthusiasm for anything, a feeling that I was just “going through the motions”; having little motivation, putting on a “happy face” when with other people, an inability to organize, “Swiss cheese” memory and listlessness among others. I spent most of my time listening to the radio and playing solitaire. I preferred being alone over being with people. Even when I was with my grandchildren, although I loved being with them, I wasn’t really “there”.

I am writing this note to you after session 25 today and only because I had a major “breakthrough” last Saturday, 1 day after session 23. I could not have written this last week, or last month or back in May when the head injury occurred. It is as though I have “been away” and now “I am back”. I am thinking again, I have a feeling of “joy for living” again – a “passion; I look  forward to getting up in the morning, doing dishes, sweeping the floor, going for a swim or the movies, I’m “humming & whistling songs” again, I’m smiling inside again. I am no longer just going through the motions with a heavy “sigh” every moment of the day. I was at the point that if God took me “home” I would be fine with that. I was living the words to the song “Is that all there is?”

It is so difficult to use words to describe what has happened to me. As the number “20” seemed to be the number of sessions that was needed for recovery I actually considered stopping there. I am so glad I continued as that was not the number for me. As you know there have been small, subtle changes that I shared with you throughout, but none can compare to this.

I truly hope others will find the breakthrough that I have found even if their “number” is higher than the “norm”. Each of us is very unique and we owe it to ourselves to trust that uniqueness and persevere so we can come back to life again, to share our “gifts” and know we belong here.

Blessings
Joy D.
